Antique Italian 19th century cello, possibly mid century. Very warm and sometimes nasal sound, balanced timbral register on all notes and any form of lupus is absent. The sound is not particularly powerful, which is why the sales figure is not as high as contemporary Italian cellos.
Bought from Italian owner, cellist from northern Italy. It had metal mechanics so the hedgehog was rebuilt in our Atelier. Other non-original parts are the bridge, the endpin, the ebony fingerboard, the pegs and the tailpiece. The chain inside has also been partly replaced (reinforced). The neck has been repaired in our Atelier.
